Japanese methods of improvement according to TPS (Toyota Production System)

Course objectives

Toyota Production System (TPS) je integrovaný systém riadenia výroby, ktorý vyvinula spoločnosť Toyota Motor Company a stal sa vzorom pre viaceré automobilové koncerny pri zavádzaní tzv. Lean manufacturing systému, čiže zoštíhlenia procesov organizácie s cieľom zvyšovania efektivity, flexibility a kvality. Účastníci kurzu sa oboznámia s filozofiou Kaizen a základnými nástrojmi TPS.

Course content

• What does Kaizen mean - history, philosophy, principles
• How to implement the Deming PDCA management and improvement cycle
• Kaizen concept in the form of TOP-DOWN approach - Kaizen Events, Kaizen projects and BOTTOM-UP approach - suggestion scheme system vs. QCC teams
• Toyota Production System - explanation of TPS history, 3 pillars for Lean management = MUDA, MURA, MURI:
  • MUDA concept = elimination of 8 types of losses for streamlining processes
  • MURA concept = increasing productivity by introducing the KANBAN & HEIJUNKA system
  • MURI concept = introduction of standardization of processes / actions / procedures
• Visualization
• 5S system (or 7S system) - explanation of 5S implementation steps, 5S audits, standardization and visualization of workplaces, system of motivation and evaluation, examples from practice in Japan and Europe
• Just in time (JIT), just in sequence (JIS)
• Gemba approach - a solution directly at the workplace / process / machine where the problem arises, implementation of regular GEMBA WALK by management team on the shopfloor
• Jidoka (Andon)
• POKA YOKE - prevention of errors / mistakes detection / elimination during production 
• TPM - Total Productive Maintenance
• Standardized operating procedures (SOPs)
• Solution of specific model examples - workshop of the course participants
