Course objectives

Participants will gain knowledge of assertive philosophy, assertive rights and assertive skills. They will be instructed on how to communicate more assertively, they will have the opportunity to learn to modify their behavior towards a more assertive person, and thus become more confident in managerial work. They will gain knowledge of how not to succumb to various forms of manipulation and will learn to receive and give effective feedback. They will find out which type of behaviors they prefer (passive, aggressive, manipulative or assertive). They will find out how to strengthen healthy self-confidence in an assertive way.

Course content

  • Assertive philosophy, assertive rights, skills and techniques (ability to give and receive awards and criticism, ability to know how to say no, ability to ask for a legitimate claim and kindness, to express one's opinion openly, to express feedback - positive and negative)
  • Assertive rights in the role of employee and manager, what is a legitimate claim and what kindness
  • Risks of non-assertive / passive, aggressive and manipulative / behavior for practice and the effects of hiding feelings, wishes and needs for us and other team members
  • The benefits and risks of assertive behavior, when to use it, what it can bring in our culture
  • Correctly self-enforcing behavior towards colleagues at various levels of management
  • Coping with anger, aggression, coercion and manipulation by assertive techniques
  • Asertivita v profesionálnych vzťahoch pri odovzdávaní informácií, sebapresadení, vyjadrovaní pozitívnych aj negatívnych pocitov, nadviazaní a udržiavaní rozhovoru
  • Transactional analysis as an effective way of communication from the role of an adult to an adult
  • Coping with different types of problem situations using assertive techniques according to the requirements and work situations of managers at different levels of management
  • Situation modeling and rehearsal, rehearsal training, rejection of a request, giving feedback as an attempt to change behavior in a desirable way
