PPAP stands for Production Part Approval Process, which can be translated as the process of approving parts for serial production. It is a method that facilitates the approval of parts or components for production by establishing specific processes. PPAP was initially designed for the automotive industry, but nowadays, it is used in various other sectors as well. This process was developed by the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group), just like the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) framework, of which PPAP is a part.
The main objective of PPAP is to demonstrate that the organization understands all customer specifications and that the manufacturing process is capable of consistently producing a product that meets all the requirements. PPAP helps to reduce the risks of production failures.
