AIAG stands for The Automotive Industry Action Group, a.k.a. the Action Group for the Automotive Industry. It is an organization that improves the supply chain processes in the automotive industry. This global organization was founded in 1982, with initial support from automotive companies such as Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors. Over time, membership has expanded to include well-known automotive companies such as Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen, Caterpillar, as well as other suppliers and service providers in the automotive supply chain.
The main objective of this nonprofit organization is to reduce costs and enhance prosperity in the automotive industry by improving business processes and activities that are part of the supply chain. AIAG achieves its goals by issuing standards and offering educational conferences and training programs. Furthermore, under AIAG's auspices, open discussion forums are conducted on various specific issues within the automotive industry, allowing people from all levels of management to participate.
Membership in this organization provides companies with the opportunity to influence the development of new technologies and standards related to business processes in automotive companies and their interconnected suppliers.
